Mechelsen Bruynen

Mechelsen Bruynen was a traditional amber Mechelen city beer and was historically a basic beer of many local breweries; Het Anker continued brewing it in small quantities until 2003. It was reputedly a favourite of Emperor Charles V and was later revived in adapted form as Gouden Carolus Ambrio, with a stronger alcohol content and a more delicately hopped character.
